Early post today and kind of a bittersweet day.
We went to lunch with my ex-boss and his wife which was nice. If you recall, he was laid off last December. Unfortunately, he is relocating to California in order to seek employment and they are leaving on Sunday. So it's goodbye for the short term and, hopefully, we can reconnect sometime in the future. When you have known someone for 17 years, it's a sad moment as you watch them leave to go on to their new venture. That's the bitter part of the day.
The sweet part was the visit from our deacon - the one who has suffered from leukemia. She looks great and has completed her treatment. Next up is a bone marrow biopsy on September 11th. This, as I've said before, is no fun. However, if the results turn out in your favor, it takes all the pain away. Unfortunately, you have to wait several days until the results come back. She is definitely in my prayers. I hope that I am still in yours.
Anyway, today was nothing but pleasant conversation followed by communion. This was only about the 5th time that I've had communion in the past 9+ months. So each one is very meaningful to me.
Weatherwise and healthwise - wonderful summer's day. I really appreciate them now.
To think that I could have missed it all...
Bob
