That ugly word is rearing its ugly head!
EXERCISE!
When we were at the doctor's on Wednesday, he commented that the next thing to concentrate on is to exercise and get my body back to its original Adonis shape. I never knew that Adonis had a round shape!
In any case, he suggested walking on the treadmill three times a week for a half hour and augmenting that with some weight lifting to strengthen the upper body. Being the good dobee, I have done the treadmill portion both Thursday and today. Begrudgingly, I do think that it does provide some help.
As for other activities over the past few days, the major event was helping an eldely(as if I'm not!) resident in our condo complex get his car out of a snow bank that he had somehow managed to embed himself. My and I and another younger couple combined forces to push his vehicle back onto the street. How he got himself there in the first place was hard to fathom and he was so in shock and feebled that he could not utter any words - let alone answer any of our questions.
Today we went to a local big box store with friends of ours to pick out a vanity for their half bath that I will install next month. Their being a vanity top sale, they got a $178 vanity top for free - not a bad deal!
Always being busy, we hosted our condo's monthly couples bridge night last night. It was a lot of fun and it's a good way to meet and stay in contact with your neighbors(at least those that play bridge).
All in all, a typical three days for us.
That's where we are at now - just having typical days and moving on with our lives,
That's the way that it should be...

Perfect!
That's not what my doctor said about me - but what he said about my counts. In so doing, my next appointment is not for another 3 months. That's music to my ears given the fact that I dislike getting up at 5 AM to make those trips to Boston. Other highlights of the visit were the fact that since I have now reached the two year mark(my, how time flies), my chances for remission have decreased to 1 to 5 percent. This is a far cry from my original odds when he said that without a bone marrow transplant my chances were about 5%. Last year, if you recall, my chances were pegged at being 60-70 percent. He followed that up by saying that next year the number will decrease even more(which makes sense). All in all, it looks like I've beaten the disease.
The doctor dropped my prednisone back tio 20 mg/day from its current 30 and I completed the visit by having my two year vacinations - which completes the two year cycle. I'm not disappointed to hear that I have no more shots coming.
Of course that was not the only activity of the day as I completed the kitchen redo today and we went to the movies tonight. We saw "the Fighter" but we both liked "Te King's Speech" even better.
But nothing can top the fact that the leukemia is now getting more and more distant in the rearview mirror. Sometimes it seems so surreal to me. Did I really have leukemia? If so, why has my recovery path been so relatively easy? What's in store for me now?
Though this day does not surpass the one wherein I was told that my cancer was in remission or the one where they told me that they had found a bone marrow donor for me - it ranks right up the there.
Today just fortifies my conviction that God is great...

Wednesday became Monday!
Yes, our planned day to do the tile grouting chanced from Wednesday to Monday. The job went well and now all I have to do is restore the outlet covers and put back the undercounter lighting(new lights or go with the old ones). On Friday night we host our condo areas couples bridge and we were looking to having the kitchen cabinet doors replaced by that time. Instead, we have the doors done, the walls repainted, and a tile backsplash installed. Oh, the curse of being type A people!
Other than that, it was a Super Bowl party yesterday and the wait until Wednesday for my next bone marrow doctor's appointment.
So, Wednesday's post should be quite telling...
