A day to celebrate!

Though his actual birthday is Wednesday, my daughter held a birthday party today for my grandson who will be thirteen. These are the things that I would have missed and I know that everyone else would have missed me as well if events had turned out much differently. Maybe I'm being a little presumptuous with the others missing me but kindly cut me a little slack here.

It's great to see what the kids are up do these days - their likes and dislikes and what's important to them. My grandson's love for the outdoors and all the activities therein is unmistakeable - hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, etc. He has to get it from the other side of his family because none of those activities appeal to me in the least!

But most of all, it's great to see the kids being happy! To see that joy just makes my day! To have missed it would have been a downer for everyone.

Thank God we can look past that situation and focus on nothing but the positive...
