A real first today!

Today was the first time that my wife and I ever went to Waterville Valley. We did so when we went to visit friends there. It was a great day. The weather was perfect and we walked around the town and through the trails for a total of about 5 miles. I don't think that I have ever walked 5 miles in a day before. The legs are a bit sore - but I really did not have any problems at all. Could I have done this before I was diagnosed? I don't know. Much of the walking was done on relatively flat ground and I never realy had any problems with flat ground before. But 5 miles might have been a stretch.

In any case, we just got home after spending 10 hours there. It was really an enjoyable time. However, we saw no moose and no bears. Is that good or bad? You can decide.

As I mentioned before, we visited with my mother-in-law yesterday and had a nice time as well.

Two good days and I think that every indication is that I am still doing well.

Much to be thankful for...

Just the way that it should be!

That's the way that the days are going. Yesterday, I survived my trip to the dentist's office. But, then again, I'm not really bothered by the dentist at all and, when done, your mouth really does feel better.

I also survived my granddaughter's 12th birthday yesterday as well! She got some nice presents and was really excited at getting a desk from her parents. Being a little older than her, birthdays just don't hold the same allure for me. Just being able to celebrate it at all is enough of a present for me!

Tomorrow, I'll go see my mother-in-law and on Saturday we drive up north to visit friends. Spring is really in full bloom here in New Hampshire and it's great to be alive!

Not much to talk about, but every day is a blessing!

We won!

I went to our local AHL hockey team's playoff game tonight and we won! A good game and a great way to spend an evening. Oh! A friend did bring me some coffee ice cream as a birthday present which I did have after the game. It keeps me looking healthy;)

Otherwise, as I've said many times before, not much else happened and there is nothing going on. Tomorrow, I have a dentist appointment - the last of the three to fix the damage done by grafy vs host disease. I can't complain if that's the worst thing that has happened to me throughout all of this. And, as they also say, "What good would it do anyway?"

Next Wednesday is the next important day as that's my next doctor's visit.

So, it's sit back and wait for that day...

I guess that I am ready!

To conduct my own Zimmerman House tours that is. Today was my second and last shadow tour before I launch into the real McCoy on June 3rd. During both of my shadow tours, the docents have made statements that conflicted with what we heard in our training. It seems that misstatements cause no problems, so I guess that I have nothing to worry about.

Otherwise, it was a dinner out with friends tonight which capped a beautiful day weatherwise. Last night we went out to dinner with one of my daughters and her family to celebrate my birthday and that of my granddaughter's which is Wednesday. It's been a serene couple of days and I don't have to think about my birthday for another whole year. Whoopee!

But I did receive a notepad from a friend as gift on my birthday which had a phrase on it by Frank Lloyd Wright that kind of says it all when you get to my age-

"The older I get, the more I realize how beautiful life is"

I couldn't say it any better myself...
