As good as it can be!
What does that mean? It means that my eye pressure is basically the same as it was a month ago which is just a little high. It also means that, after testing , the pressure is not caused by glaucoma - but is a byproduct of the prednisone that I am taking. For all the good things that medicine does for you there always seems to be a few takeaways.
However, according to the doctor, the elevated pressure bears watching that it does not turn into glaucoma. So what's the solution? More drops! Once a day I have to take another drop in each eye and, in a month, go back to check that my eye pressure is improving.
I'm sorry for the delay in this posting but all the medication that they threw in my eyes today caused a bluriness that just seemed to go on forever. There's a noticeable improvement at this point. Hopefully this continues as I expect to go back to painting my kitchen tomorrow.
One side light to today's visit is the fact that 1:45 is not a good time for any appointments in Boston(as though we had a choice)! The commute home was during rush hour - on a Friday - and it was horrible. By the time you get home, you're exhausted. Which we were.
Our new microwave was installed today and it spruces up the kitchen real nice! It makes it look like we had a major overhaul done to the room as it really modernizes it. The installer said that the microwave ways a ton and, unless you've done it before, it was best to have someone else do it. I don't know if he was trying to be selfserving or not - but I considered it good advice - even tghough I hate to spend money for something that I think that I can do myself.
In a similar fashion, I fixed a couple of things in my neighbor's home this morning and am looking forward to replacing an under-cabinet light in the near future to wrap up her to-do list.
All in all, a very productive day...

Off to the doctor's!
Back to Mass Eye and Ear on Friday to check out the pressure in my eyes and see what the solution will be. It's wintertime and each appointment comes with the threat of bad weather. However, we've dodged a bullet here and it looks like things will be OK.
Wednesday for our next Dana-Farber visit, however, offers an early concern for snow. We'll see. That's so far in the future, I can't get too wrapped up in it.
For day to day activities, I continue working at neighbors homes and on my own kitchen. Today, I started to paint our kitchen. Tomorrow the new microwave goes in. Then it's finish the painting and put in a tile backsplash. I haven't worked with tile in years but I anticipate that it will be both a fun and interesting project.
Meanwhile, my neighbors diverse projects continue. Yesterday, I fixed a window for a neighbor that was stuck open! Considering that we've had below zero temperatures that past few days, this represented a great deal of discomfort and quite a heat loss. Why others failed and I succeeded, I don't know. But, needless to say, the lady was very thankful.
Her neighbor had a bunch of computer issues that I resolved. Once more making me look like a hero. But I think that the saying, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" aptly applies. I've been lucky so far.
At least tomorrow's entry will offer something meaningful to report.
Talk to you then...

Cooooooooooold!
That's the watchword for today and tonight. This morning it was below zero and basically single digits all day. To male matters worse, there's a little snow coming tonight and a much more subatantial storm set for Wednesday night into Thursday. It appears that Friday will be OK as we head back to Mass Eye And Ear. This time of year, you pay close attention to the weather as it can affect everything that you do.
Today was a men's bridge day. A combination of no cards and no luck(it just couldn't be how we played!) had us lose with a low score. The only consolation was that the other team did not fare too well either - though they scored more than we did.
Otherwise it was quiet as I slowly turn my attention from my current neighborhood client to her neighbor. Today I was given a new task - fix her indoor/outdoor thermometer. This I have done. It;s simply fascinating dealing with all the disparate things that people have go wrong and just can't seem to get a handle on how to fix them.
As I said before, I'll await the results of my doctor's visits on Friday and Wednesday before I conclude how healthy I am. At present, I feel fine.
Time to go bundle up.....
