Soaked!
I had a Zimmerman House tour today and it started raining - check that - pouring near the end of the tour. I got wet getting onto the van and then soaked standing at the door to aid the passengers as they decended the steps to go back into the museum. And they chivalry is dead!
But the torrential rain still wouldn't stop and I finally gave up waiting and ran to my car which really soaked me to the skin. I suppose I shouldn't complain, however, as we've had no rain all summer. But it could have done us a huge favor and held off for an hour.
Yesterday, we took my grandson to the ballgame again and he slept overnight here and celebrated his 14th birthday with us today. Tonight his parents and his other grandparents were here for dinner to cap off the day.
Tomorrow we're off to the lake for the weekend. It promises to be cooler - daytime temps in the 70's and nighttime temps in the high 40's. Fall is a coming!
Twenty days until my next doctor's appointment, I wonder what my numbers will show...

Postponed!
Our outside dinner engagement with friends was postponed as the weather was not so hot up north. It was OK though as I continued ripping out my wall today and went to the dump to dispose of the remains.
Tomorrow it's round 2 with my grandson at the ballpark as we head into his 14th birthday on Thursday. The weather promises to be hot once again. Thursday, when I do my next Zimmerman House tour, promises to be in the nineties as well. What a summer!
A little sidelight to the tour on Thursday. There are always 2 docents as the tour group has to split up to accommodate the smaller rooms in the house. Someone signed up to do the tour with me and I had no idea who she was! On Sunday night, when we went to the movies, this woman at the ticket counter introduced herself to me and told me that she was the docent who would be sharing the duties with me on Thursday. God works in strange ways!
Now that I'm back doing work, I find that I'm not so stiff and sore as when I was semi-relaxing. I guess that vigorous activity is what's required to keep the body going.
I'm feeling fine and trying to keep as busy as I can.
I'll grow old if I don't...

I spaced it this morning!
For some reason, from yesterday on, I pictured leaving for church at 9:30 totally forgetting that in the summer church begins at 9:00. Needless to say, we missed church. My wife thought that I felt that I needed to sleep which was incorrect. I was ready to go in time but I had not eaten breakfast. This is what put me past the start time. I've never done this before so I'm perplexed as to why this happened. In any case, it's not a big deal - just something totally out of the ordinary.
Yesterday was the barn tour and it was great! The individual barns went from the very interersting to the very boring but you would expect that to be the case. But the day was picture perfect for this activity and it was great to step right into quintessential New England once again. It helps to make me realize why I love this area so much.
Not much else going on. I do want to say that I continually receive mail offering assistance with how to live after you've had a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, I'm busy when a phone teleconference seminar was being offered. However, I do have to participate in a web survey which I think that I will undertake at this time.
With that in mind, I'll call it a day until the next time...
