Things just keep on happening!

I went to the Leukemia therapy session tonight and came away with much more than I thought that I gave to the group. There was a guest "speaker" if you will - actually more of a talker who was from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She shared much about what the society does for blood cancer patients which was beneficial to hear.

But, more importantly, she is willing to publicize our bone marrow drive on April 18th which is a big plus for us and I found out that they offer a peer-to-peer support system for newly diagnosed leukemia patients and they are looking for volunteers for the program. I think that this is something that I would like to pursue. It's funny, but a year and a half ago I never would have considered volunteering for any activity like this. My how my life has changed.

Likewise, they would like to have me and my wife be the speaker and one of the monthly meetings. Not next month, but somewhere down the line. I never would have considered doing this either in the past. But I am more than willing to share my story if people are more than willing to listen to it.

As an aside, I played bridge at church today for the first time with three other men who are retired - or who at least have the afternoon of the second Monday of the month free. No cards, but some fun and certainly a change of pace. My life is rapidly filling up with activites - ain't it great!

It looks like the "new" norm is going be an "active" norm...
