Perfect!
That's not what my doctor said about me - but what he said about my counts. In so doing, my next appointment is not for another 3 months. That's music to my ears given the fact that I dislike getting up at 5 AM to make those trips to Boston. Other highlights of the visit were the fact that since I have now reached the two year mark(my, how time flies), my chances for remission have decreased to 1 to 5 percent. This is a far cry from my original odds when he said that without a bone marrow transplant my chances were about 5%. Last year, if you recall, my chances were pegged at being 60-70 percent. He followed that up by saying that next year the number will decrease even more(which makes sense). All in all, it looks like I've beaten the disease.
The doctor dropped my prednisone back tio 20 mg/day from its current 30 and I completed the visit by having my two year vacinations - which completes the two year cycle. I'm not disappointed to hear that I have no more shots coming.
Of course that was not the only activity of the day as I completed the kitchen redo today and we went to the movies tonight. We saw "the Fighter" but we both liked "Te King's Speech" even better.
But nothing can top the fact that the leukemia is now getting more and more distant in the rearview mirror. Sometimes it seems so surreal to me. Did I really have leukemia? If so, why has my recovery path been so relatively easy? What's in store for me now?
Though this day does not surpass the one wherein I was told that my cancer was in remission or the one where they told me that they had found a bone marrow donor for me - it ranks right up the there.
Today just fortifies my conviction that God is great...
Bob
