Reprieve!

I received the letter today from Nortel stating that "due to recent developments" they have withdrawn their case to terminate the long term disability program "for the foreseeable future". Currently no plans exist to terminate the program but they always have the option of doing so whenever they wish. Since I have a maximum of 8 months left under the plan - each month gets me one step nearer to that deadline. I'll take wnatever I can get.

Also, they've pulled back the lay off as of August 31st as well. So I can still consider myself to be "gainfully employed". More importantly, my company insurance remains in force. That's a biggy!

A quiet two days. Originally friends of ours were to be here this weekend but they had to cancel so we had no plans. Yesterday we went to lunch with my mother-in-law and today we starting cleaning out a room that we wish to convert into a spare bedroom. There is always work to do. Those of you who are homeowners can readily attest to that!

In the process, my next project sprung to the forefront - put pegboard on one wall of the room so that my wife can hang more of her paintings. She's an artist and we have lots of her paintings that need to have a place to be seen.

Tomorrow I have to get the outside ready to be power washed on Monday. All stuff attached to the building must be removed. What do the aged and/or infirm do? Or those who are away on vacation? I don't know! It's a little presumptuous for the power wash people to tyhink that everyone can comply with their wishes.

Anyway, the beat goes on. I feel fine with about a month to go before my next doctor's visit.

It has been a great summer and I'm glad that I don't have to be working...

Bob
