An interesting day!

Yes, I stopped by the office today to visit with my remaining coworkers with whom I had not seen in almost 20 months. It was nice to see those who were still left; but it was disheartening to see that so many were gone.

As for me, I found out that my badge no longer worked. Physically, it got me past the guard at the front desk; but that was it. I was fortunate to have someone with me in the elevator to get me to the third floor. But, once there, I couldn't get into the office area because all the doors are now closed. Again, someone came by and let me in.

One constant still remained - the food in the cafeteria was the same as it has always been. However, the regular lunch group has greatly dwindled with all of the layoffs. After lunch I spoke with several other people and saw that my office was left in the exact same state as it was when I left on October 30, 2008. Quite amazing, what with all tha has gone on.

As I was leaving, I decided to go up to the next floor to see who might be around. As the door closed behind me, when I stepped into the stairwell, I quickly came to the realization that I needed a working badge to leave the stairwell and proceed to any floor. That simple fact had slipped my mind and now I was trapped! All I could picture was their finding a starving and thirsty person waiting in the stairwell when people showed up for work on Monday morning. Never mind about the lack of bathroom facilities!

Anyway, some happened to come along while I was knocking on the door and let me in. What a break! Unfortunately, no one was around and my almost disaterous adventure was fruitless.

All in all, it was nice to see everyone and do a little catching up on what was going on.

Maybe I'll be back someday...
