I have to admit that I'm somewhat shaken up after reading that second comment on yesterday's blog. I really had no idea what to say today and I was going to do little bit about the benefits of never having a "bad hair day" after I devoted yesterday's entry to the status of my hair.
After reading the comment, however, I too am filled with a variety of emotions. I have received a number of e-mails from people who have said that they felt inspired in some way from reading my blog. I have found each of these to be very moving to me and, yet, I am truly taken aback and humbled that the words that I have chosen to write(actually, words that have been given to me to write) can be so meaningful to others.
This comment, once again, shows us how small a world it is and how each of us in some small way can touch the heart and soul of another - oftentimes without even realizing it. I have often said that God only knows how we affect others. But through this blog, admittedly a somewhat selfish endeavor for a number of reasons, God has truly blessed me by actually letting me know in certain cases that my words(His words!) have truly affected the lives of other people.
I really don't know how to respond to a comment like this except to say that I am glad that God has touched this woman through me and bolstered her feelings about the significance of the wonderful gift that she is giving to another. She is definitely making a difference in the life of another as is some other donor in mine. It is a gift that I can never repay and, I am sure, one in which the donor is not looking to be reimbursed for in any way. But the bottom line from all of this is that we all make a difference in some way in the lives of others! Would that it were always a positive one!

As you have said you don't know how this journey has touched people's lives, but it certainly had, especially mine. It has made me appreciate everything more and to be happy and blessed for what I have in life. This has been inspirational for all of us and to know that you have influenced someone from another country like Norway is incredible. I would like to thank that person for taking the opportunity of donating and providing someone with the gift of life. There is no greater gift and I hope that I will be able to provide this to someone one day as well. Bob's world has taken on its own meaning and it truely is a world that you have created that has provided influence, inspiration and hope to us all through this incredible journey. It has also provided us with an insight to who you are and the incredible passion that you have and continue to display of standing proud and strong through this.
Love

Hi Bob, Sorry, but it was not my intentions to shake you up that much... Your story just hit me, and I'm very glad I saw Jennifer's comment on one of the support groups on Facebook yesterday. (I don't remember which one).
I've had trouble concentrating at work today. Since you are the "closest" I can get to how my receiver think about the transplant process. I'm touched by your everyday thoughts. Do not stop commenting your hair!;)I'm also very touched by the great love and affection you seem to have in your family.
It feels a bit strange peeking into a stranger's blog and read about your inner thougts, and it feels even more strange to make comments about it... ;) Please tell me if you mind.
By reading your blog, it makes my preparations to the donation more meaninful, since I have a lot of questions about my receiver. Does he have a caring family around? What has he gone through? What thougts does he have?
Take care!
Love, Janne
Janne,
I don't mind that you are reading and commenting on my blog at all. It is such an honor to feel that my innermost thoughts and feelings can have such an affect on people. If this blog better helps you to understand what you are doing for someone else then it has more than achieved its originally intended goals. But that's why we are all here - to help each other. I wish you the best of luck with your donation.
You are the true hero here as you have stepped forward to give of yourself to help another. As I said before, I am just an average guy with a not-so-average disease who simply follows the dictates of his doctors in order to get back to good health.
I have enjoyed getting the perspective from the other side of the fence.
Regards,
Bob
